Road signs provide information to road users

Road signs or traffic signs are meant to guide people about the destinations and provide other road related information to the road users. Various countries have started to adopt pictorial signs to provide instructions to the people, as it simplifies and standardizes signs. They also facilitate tourists who do not understand the local language to decode the road signs.

Road signs can be divided into several segments that includes; danger warning signs, priority signs, prohibitory or restrictive signs, regulatory signs, guide signs , temporary traffic control or construction / work zone signs, railroad and light rail signs and many other signs. The categories, placement and graphic standards for road signs are legally defined in many countries.

Road signs follow a certain color schemes like; red and white for stop, green with white letters for informational signs, and others. With the increasing number if vehicles across the globe, the requirement for road signs have become very essential.
